FUNAKI began his career in the early 90's taking pictures of his friends with a little 35mm  point and shoot camera. His work is influenced by everyday working people, rebellious youth, tattoos, jazz and Rock n roll.

FUNAKI has incorporated a DIY aesthetic into his work making him affordable and accessible for artist seeking downright ruthless street portraits. With the discipline of a samurai, the experimental nature of an avant garde jazz musician, the explosive power of the first wave of punk rock and the aggressiveness of the Venice Z-Boys FUNAKI is able to capture the true essence of the people he photographs.

His images have appeared in numerous album covers and published in magazines worldwide.
